Dun dun dun, okay it's time for our fun October giveaway!! No tricks involved :)
We have gotten a lot of feedback on what you guys wanted to see in a giveaway and the #1 answer was jewelry. But we were torn, because we just came out with a popular mustache mug set that we thought you might be interested in also. So.... instead of picking one or another, we're giving BOTH!
The grand prize is a mustache espresso set - they're SUPER cute!
I kind of think they would be perfect for a girls tea party as well.
And the second prize is this crafty fox pendant necklace. He's completely adorable, and is on a great necklace made from the same rubber as wetsuits {I know, cool right?}
Aaaand these are just in time for the holidays. You can either gift this awesome set or keep it for yourself, but I'm pretty sure you'll want to keep it if you win it :)
All you have to do to enter is leave a comment telling us what your favorite book is and why {I'm on the hunt for a new list of books to read!} Then keep checking back to see if you've won!
The winners will be chosen at random on October 31st.
Hope you are ALL having a fabulous weekend!
Cheers ♥
-Lex

I am so in love with that espresso set!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy books of many genres. I love the feminist dystopian novel by Margaret Atwood - The Handmaid's Tale. The Glass Castle: A memoir by Jeanette Walls is also a wonderful and emotional read. Can You Keep A Secret by Sophie Kinsella is great lighthearted fun.

heidig@gmail.com
I'm loving both items but the mugs really are super cute.
ReplyDeleteReading "Trainspotting" now - amazing book, highly recommended.
Love the fact that you're a mom-daughter team ;)
ReplyDeleteI work in an office so loved Personal Days by Ed Park.
Also an awesome charity is growing mustaches for cancer kids. I think it's just called Moustaches for Kids.
The moustache mugs are so cute and I love the colors! The foxy necklace is really adorable as well!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that my favorite books are part of a triliogy called the His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman. The first book (The Golden Compass) came out in movie form a bit ago but I didn't have the heart to see it. If you enjoy fantasy type books at all, you should give it a go! :)
high fidelity by nich hornby because it's heartbreakingly honest. it mixes romance with good music and tells it like it is.
ReplyDeleteVery cute mug set! Hmmm. Choosing a favorite book is tough. A current favorite is The Ballad of the Sad Cafe.
ReplyDeletePretty much anything written by Philippa Gregory in her Tudor Legacy series. I just really enjoy her writing style.
ReplyDeleteHow cute! I love those cups.
ReplyDeleteI guess my favorite is the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, but there are soo many good ones...Blindness is another great read if you're looking for something interesting. And of course, I love anything by Kurt Vonnegut.
This is totally the coolest blog. Love the look, love the giveaways, and the literary aspect. Very Nice. So, I have a huge new dog, and need to establish myself as boss. Fur real. I bought "Cesar's Way" by Cesar Millan, and am very glad I did. The end. :)
ReplyDeleteThe phantom tollbooth. Its a childrens book but i love it :D
ReplyDeletenr0118@gmail.com
My favourite book is My Own Story by Ryan White. Ryan got AIDS from plasma products used by hemophiliacs. Its written by him except for the end of the book after he had passed away. I believe that all "kids" should read this!
ReplyDeleteThanks

(in Canada)
Since it's fall time I like to read any short story by Edgar Allen Poe. The Black Cat and The Cask of Amontillado are two of my favorites. Perfect reading for Halloween and fall time :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, the Phantom Tollbooth is awesome! I only just read it as an adult and I loved it!
Oh my goodness, those cups are the coolest things EVER!!! Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book is definitely "The Neverending Story" by Michael Ende (I wish I could read German so that I could read it in the original language). If you've seen the movie (and I loved the movie), the book is a million times better, especially if you're a big fan of fantasy and reading (a protagonist who loves books? Sign me up!)!
A close second is "The Eyre Affair" by Jasper Fforde. Hilariously funny, with references to many books inside. It also has a tough-as-nails female protagonist (named Thursday Next). Totally recommend it!
Hi there! What beautiful prizes! Thank you for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteHands down, if you enjoy urban fantasy, you must read "Dreams Underfoot" By Charles deLint. Actually, anything by him will do, but "Dreams" is a collection of short stories that will introduce you to characters who pop up in many of his other stories. Enjoy!
wow...i love the mustach tea set...how adorable...
ReplyDeletethere are so many books i love but the first that popped into my mind is...
ONE THOUSAND WHITE WOMEN The Journals of May Dodd...by Jim Fergus ... i loved this book...
"cross my fingers, i hope i win"
What wonderful prices you have!
ReplyDeleteI just finished The Mermaid Chair which is by the same author as The Secret Life of Bees. I really enjoyed both of them. My all time favorite book that I recommend to everyone is the Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingslover. A book that I could NOT put down.
Beautiful cup and saucer set. I absolutely love it! My favorite book is A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. I found it eye opening and empowering. I think it is a truly amazing story, as do 'Borders' bookstore in Australia, who put it in their top 100 books.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to recommend a couple books. First - The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini (same author as ChallenCharms suggestion of A Thousand Splendid Suns - read that too & it's very good). The Kite Runner is very intense and so well written. It's amazing.
ReplyDeleteSecond - Eat Cake, by Jeanne Ray. This is a light read and it's just a lot of fun. Plus, there are cake recipes in the back. :) Other books by Jeanne Ray are just as good.
Thanks so much for doing a giveaway - very cool prizes and I love reading the entries!
Love the mustache!!
ReplyDeleteA favorite series of mine is Charlie Bone by jenny Nimmo if you like fantasy! He can enter pictures etc...it is a very cool you adult book lolol. My 10 year old loves it!!
As for adult books...I am currently reading Dexter series by Jeff Lindsay
Oh gosh- the mugs are adorable! They're just so colourful and cheerful, and that makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteA book I've read recently..."The Little Stranger" by Sarah Waters. A friend of mine lent it to me, and it just gave me the chills by the time I was finished with it (didn't help that I was reading this at 2am in the morning either!)It's a story about a haunted house, so it's pretty appropriate for Halloween :)
Though, if you've never read Jane Austen (my favourite author, I can't pick only one book), you must through her books too- they're amazingly good!
We think the mugs would give us a great "template" on a new moustache to grow for YOU each month! We are currently in a "business" mode of reading and are enjoying "Six Pixels of Separation" by Mitch Joel as well as revisiting the Ayn Rand reader.
ReplyDeleteHave Fun!
-the Mixed Species guys-
i love that expresso set! so colorful!!!
ReplyDeletei absolutely adore all of jean m auel's "earths children" series, and hope that if my new baby is a girl, that i will name her after the protagonist in the books as the stories are inspiriingly beautiful and really are one of the kinds you refuse to put down!
if im in luck please visit my blog or etsy shop to contact me! enjoy your sunday :)

Ok, I see none of the other bibliophiles are able to keep their recommendations down to one, so I don't feel bad, either.
ReplyDeleteIf you like serious fantasy, do do do try the Bas-Lag series by China Mieville. Perdido Street Station, The Scar, Iron Council-- anything I could say about them would not convey how awesome and immersive and just flat great they are.
If you haven't read Terry Pratchett's Discworld, go read it now! Start with Wyrd Sisters, or maybe Reaper Man. Fun and funny and surprisingly deep.
Also surprisingly deep: Corydon, by Tobias Druitt. Great retake on Greek mythology, with very human views.
And and and...I think I'd better stop.;) But this is such a brilliant idea to have for your giveaway-- mind if I swipe it?
carapacenator(at)gmail.com

ReplyDeleteFavorite book of the moment...
ReplyDeleteThree Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson & David Oliver Relin
http://www.threecupsoftea.com/
I couldn't pick just one....too many books to love. So I'll recommend Anna Karenina or Pride and Prejudice for the classics reader, anything by Jane Green for some fun "chick lit" and then Cormack McCarthy for something strange and usually dark.
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!
- jess
Oh my! My first time here, but my hubby is on a mustache kick & loves espresso, these would be perfect for him!
ReplyDeleteAs a mom of 3 boys (& a girl), I really love Lord Of The Flies. It's a classic, I've read it many times. Interesting fiction, with thought provoking social issues that stand the test of time.
awesome set, soooooooooooooo pretty and not necessarily for a man right....LOL
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book will always be A Bargain For Frances by Russell Hoban. My aunt used to read it to me when I was little and it was the first book I read all by myself. I doubt you will be interested in reading a children's book, but it would be a great gift for your favorite kiddo. :)
ReplyDeleteAnother favorite is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith. It's a classic... with zombies! What could be better than that?

ReplyDeleteThose are SO COOL! I think we need some mustache mugs to accompany our foam mustaches.
ReplyDeleteThe Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon will keep you occupied for AWHILE. I started reading the series as a teenager and they are books that I've continued to like as I've read and re-read them as an adult. Time Travel, Romance, Men in Kilts, Need I say more?
I also loved "The Pleasure of My Company" by Steve Martin. He has a very poignant way of writing that just strikes me to the spine.
And of course, anything by Vonnegut is pretty great.
ohhhh it's hard to narrow it down to just one favorite book...how about "Water for Elephants" it was a fantastic story and i couldn't put it down. oohhh i couldn't put "the lovely bones" down either.
ReplyDeletelove love love those mustache cups! xoxo andie...

OMG! I am a HUGE mustache fanatic. I have them everywhere. I paint them, and I even dremeled one into my pumpkin this year. I MUST win! PLEASE! I can show you the mustache'd punkin if that will persuade you!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite books are The Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella. I love how this girl loves shopping. Doesn't everyone?
I open up a David Sedaris collection when I'm in need of a laugh - he never fails to crack me up!

ReplyDeletembpeik@aol.com
Those mugs are hilarious! The pendant rocks too
ReplyDeleteI really loved Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy. It makes you think and the end... well, its horrifically fantastic, if that makes sense. East of Eden & Gone with the Wind are also great.
One of my favorite books is James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl because it's a imaginative story with lots of positive parts in it . I also love most of Roald Dahl's book both child and adult but this is the book that sticks out the most !
ReplyDeletetumblemumbo at gmail dot com
To single out one book is a near impossible task :) I just read The Book Thief by Zusak. It's considered a YA novel but I think everyone should read it. It's pretty sad but worth a few tears since the messages are so powerful.
ReplyDeleteAnnee Goodrich (also Teresa's friend)
I love murder mysteries. Reading them is a fun escape. Right now, I love all the books in the Miss Julia series by Ann B. Ross.

ReplyDeleteI'd SO do a happy dance if I won those mugs. I love the Hercule Poirot moustache on the blue one.
Love. Those. Mugs. So cute!!
ReplyDeleteSo many favourite books...
I'll go with Silk, by Alessandro Baricco. I read it in French, but I'm sure it's just as lovely in English. It's beautiful and haunting and it breaks my heart, a little.
Oh those are adorable :)
ReplyDelete"five people you meet in heaven" by mitch albom is a cute, heartwarming book!
THOSE MUGS ARE GLORIOUS!
ReplyDeleteHaha, anyways...I have quite a few favorite books, but I'll give you these two: Seven Types of Ambiguity by Eliot Perlman and one I'm reading right now called Whale Music by Paul Quarrington. The first is a story told from seven different perspectives and it's sad at times but brilliant. The second is a weird and funny and amazing pseudo-memoir-type-thing of a rock star with a shaky memory and a unique perspective on life.
I second the earlier suggestion of Jude The Obscure as well!
OMG! I would live for the mugs. I would make delicious hot cocoa and sip away while I read one of my favorite books, most likely 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' or 'Dicey's Song'. Those are the two I always go back to in the Fall.
ReplyDeleteLove the expresso set and the lil fox!
ReplyDeleteBooks I've really enjoyed are Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins a realy great read, The sword of truth novels by Terry Goodkind one of the best writters of our time, Ishmael by Daniel Quinn it really makes you think

Those are adorable. You guys are too!
ReplyDeleteVurt by Jeff Noon.
I didn't know what I was getting myself into. The imagery is thrilling and admittedly trippy, and confusing only at first. Expected, as it IS about virtual worlds you enter when you inhale feathers. (for real.) I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unusual read.
Love the espresso set so much :)
ReplyDeleteBooks- holy cow, so many that I love but...
Invisible Monstors by Chuck Palnhniuk is a great read, as is Diary- which is very different from most of the books he's done- almost has a Stephen King feel to it.
omg! I love the mustache cups!
ReplyDeleteOne of my fave books is the Dark Towers series by Stephen King.
:)

Awesome! I LOVE the moustache espresso set!

It was also nominated for the Great Lakes Book Award, The Logo Channel's New Now Next Award, and The Locus Award for Best First Novel. The novel was praised as "lovely, melancholy, offbeat" in a Village Voice review of 2007.[1] The Washington Post called One for Sorrow a "remarkable first novel."
ReplyDeleteBTW he is also my FAVORITE Fiction Writing Professor! Great guy, fantastic at karaoke, and Awesome Writer! Hopefully you too will love the book!

I could second any number of the books people have listed.
ReplyDeleteBut in the nature of expanding your book list, my favorite book of all time is The Diamond Age, by Neal Stephenson.
I can't wait to read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies though. That looks like so much fun!
Looks like you're new mustaches are getting a lot of attention, and with reason, they're amazing!
I love those mugs!! My fav recent book is "Little Bee" by Chris Cleave. Enjoy reading!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I so love these!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite books (right now) are:
The End of Art by Donald Kuspit
The Bedside Book of Birds by Grame Gibson
Domino Book of Decorating (Domino Magazine Release - limited edition)
The Gentle Art of Domesticity by Jane Brocket
I have so many favorites, but assuming it would be one you have never read, mmm.. Totto-chan : the little girl by the window, by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, I don't know about the English translation, is it available yet, but it's a good read!
ReplyDeleteOh...
ReplyDeleteI am in love with both..anyway!!
I love to read and recently read a couple of great book I want to share with you
One was by Hunter S Thompson (yeah, the author of Fear and Loathing is Las Vegas)..but the book is called 'Rum Diary'..there is something about it that made me like it)
Another one was 'Book thief' by Markus Zusak - I really enjoyed the way it is written.
But my favourite of all time is Russian 'Master and Margarita' by Bulgakov.
Favorite read is "A Happy Marraige" by Rafael Yglesias...it's such a quick read and suprisingly not girly!
ReplyDeleteP.S. In love with the mugs!
xo
By far my favourite read (pre-film release) "Into The Wild" by John Krakauer. It's suspenseful even if you've watched the movie and read Krakauer's original articles about Chris McCandless (Alexander Supertramp) Then, when you are done - go read his other work. "Eiger Dreams", "Under the Banner of Heaven" - all excellent.
ReplyDeleteHave fun adding to your library!
Oh my! That is the most amazing espresso set I've seen. Adorable.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so my favorite books include:
{The Ishbane Conspiracy}- still reading it but SO good. Its about angels & demons. A little cheesy but so fascinating.
{The Girl on the Fridge}- Amazing collection of short stories by Etgar Keret, a truly amazing Israeli writer.
{The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time}- Such a cool book. Its set from the eyes of a genius, autistic boy. He finds his neighbor's dog dead and decides to solve the "mystery." Its a total MUST READ.
(Now I'm going to go through these comments to find new books!)
As I tell you all the time,I loooove everything you have.If I had to choose I'd choose the adorable mug's but I luv the necklas too. I read the Shack by William P. Young. I am a christian and am fimilar with the bible but when we're laying around and our head starts to dream about how something is or could be..can be AMAZING. I heard this book was good. Got it. Started reading it that night, all night until I feel asleep about 8 that morning, slept about 4 hrs and read it until I finished the book. AMAZING. It is is fiction but almost doesn't seem like it..:). It is a tear jerker but so worth the tears of pain and happiness. Everyone needs to buy this book and pass it around, I don't know who has mine now...lol. Yep,that good. Please don't miss it or pass it by if you see it..Luv ya..Heatherjo
ReplyDeleteI have waaaayyyy too many favorite books, but this is one I have read several times and I really enjoyed it. It's called The Lake of Dead Languages, by Carol Goodman. Really good book, kinda creepy! I LOVE the mugs by the way!!!! Super cute!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say that my book would actually have to be a certain series of books by R.A Salvatore. I'm a huge fantasy fan and the Legacy of the Drow series just captured my heart. I've been hooked and have re-read these books sooooo many times!
ReplyDeleteSalvatore is just a creative writer who gives great visuals and his fight scenes are perfect!
I can be reached at beyondatlantisak@yahoo.com
Just stumbled on your etsy shop...which led me here. I just love your work (especially the button earrings). Thanks for offering a give away! Here's a few of my favorite books: East of Eden, My Antonia, and Anna Karenina
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading The Crimes of Dr. Watson: An Interactive Sherlock Holmes Mystery by Duane Swierczynski and it was fantastic! You are given twelve clues that help you solve a whodunit. For example, one of the clues is an attached newspaper that you unfold. In case you're stumped, the solution is sealed at the end of the book. Such a fun and interesting read!
ReplyDeleteHi There!
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the Mustache Mugs!
My favorite book is the Twilight Series. I can't help but to indulge in a series about young love when I am in my 30's, happily married, and with 2 little girls. I am a sucker for LOVE stories and this one I thought was AMAZING! Romeo and Juliet is a good story, but Twilight is better :0)
Keep up the great work girls. Check out my sister Jennifer's blog if you never have: Craftsanity.com
Thanks,
Jsinthehizzy@yahoo.com
Oh man, that espresso set is to DIE for, I can't even handle it.
ReplyDeleteI recently re-read Love in the Time of Cholera, it's so dreamy and fairy-tale like....
I'm in love with those mugs! In fact, I featured them in a post on my blog http://thelittleowlshop.blogspot.com/
ReplyDelete:)
I agree: The Lovely Bones is such a great book. Very sad parts, it can be heartbreaking, but a miracle happens at the end that I wasn't expecting. I'm excited for the movie in December.
ReplyDeleteIf you love fantastical worlds and epics, Stephen King's The Dark Tower series is stunning. This isn't typical Carrie or "boogie monster under the bed" stuff.. this is a 7-book series that exceeds Harry Potter, in my eyes. My all-time favorite.
LOVE the mugs!!! <3
spektorish @ gmail . com
LOVE the mugs!!
ReplyDeletemy favorite book is The Fountainhead. first book i read in college, and i was amazed i could finish a book with about 650 pages! i've always been intrigued by frank lloyd wright's work, and the character of Howard Roarke was based on him. an amazing lesson on the importance of integrity.
if i win, will you read the book? :)
I see your fabulous pic of those great mugs made it on front page
ReplyDeletecongratulations!!
Those mugs are adorable!! I love the bright colors and mustaches.
ReplyDeleteOk, favourite book. That's such a hard question! Right now my favourite book is Fingersmith by Sarah Waters, a brilliant book based in 19th Century England with some of the most intriguing twists and turns I've ever encountered in a book. It's about 500-600 pages long, but it flies by far too quickly! Oh! and anything by Clive Barker too!! :D
The must-read book that I loved, my mother who doesn't like anything I read loved, my brother's girlfriend loved... The Sugar Queen, by Sarah Addison Allen. One pro reviewer said something like it was a dessert you couldn't pout down... seriously! You'll love it! (and I'd love the moustache mugs!) I keep a special section of my bookshelf for the "top ten books I've ever read" and it's been a while since I added one - this book was it! Enjoy all your wonderful new books!!!
ReplyDeleteI've read Hot Water Music by Charles Bukowski more than any other book I own. I really love the characters in these short stories, as unfortunate as they may seem. This book taught me to cure a hangover with a warm beer, or to at least try to.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite books is "Death in Venice" (Thomas Mann).
ReplyDeleteIt is a marvelous work, really a treasure of Literature.
Highly recommended, you will love it!
:)*
(And I love your wonderful mugs!)
Your work is so cute and creative!
ReplyDeleteI love Chuck Palahniuk and Kurt Vonnegut books, but it's hard to say what my favorite would be...
So instead I will recommend a book I recently picked up at random for my boyfriend's birthday -- it's called "Ignore Everybody(and 39 other keys to creativity)" by Hugh MacLeod.
It's a very quick easy read, but insightful. The author talks about the advantages/disadvantages of being a creative person trying to combine your hobbies and passions with your work. ( :
Favorite book is gonna have to be Trainspotting, Welsh has a great way of engaging the reader, the scene with the baby in the movie is much more disturbing in the book solely because his use of type and language make you feel like your in the room. Only book I've ever had to close my eyes for (found it very counter productive and just read through my fingers.)
ReplyDeleteI found your shop after looking up mustaches on etsy (I had a gallery show my senior year of college involving mustaches and I was trying to find some cool mustache stuff- figure it's better than a class ring!) Great work, keep it up!
Ooooh, what beautiful pieces, and I LOVE the way you photographed them!
ReplyDeleteAnd the giveaway is tremendous. Thanks for entering me.
Favorite book? I'm into historical fiction so "The Red Tent" was interesting, wonderful to read. Elegantly written, and thought-provoking. I'd recommend it.
jen dot s dot chandler at gmail dot com
Ack! Pick just one book? Never..
ReplyDelete1.) the perks of being a wallflower - Stephen Chbosky
2.) Go Ask Alice - Anonymous
3.) It happened to Nancy - Anonymous
4.) Hairstyles of the Damned – Joe Meno
5.) Flowers in the Attic - V.C.Andrews
6.) The time travelers wife – Audrey Niffenegger
all wonderful and deep books with a touch of sad that makes you get attached to the charactors. I walked away from each of these books with a lesson in my heart and a thought in my mind that always guides me through the day.
If I had to recommend only one book for someone else to read, not knowing their specific tastes, I'd pick "Never Let Me Go" by Kazuo Ishiguro.
ReplyDeleteThis book defies genre-- It is personal and political, realistic but strange. It is a mystery before you understand it's a mystery, and it asks compelling questions about personal relationships, identity, morality, and more.
Ishiguro is a very, very good writer who uses his words and his characters carefully (especially his narrators, who always seem to know or feel a little bit more than they admit, though the reader may see it clearly). I really hope you'll give this book a try!
One of my favorite books is "The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" by Michael Chabon and I would definitely recommend you read it if you haven't already.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I just bought the mustache mugs as a birthday present for my little brother in honor of his newly grown mustache. Can't wait for him to get them and here's hoping I win some for myself!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE these little mustaches, I came across them on Etsy. My favorite book is Confessions of a Shopaholic, no rhyme or reason, just some easy reading:)
ReplyDeleteI love your Mustache Mugs! They are so quirky and I can't help but smile when I look at them :)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite book to read right now is actually a children's book called "The Snail and The Whale" by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. I read it to my 9 montho old daughter Zoe, many times a day!!
It is a sweet book about a Small Snail and a Large Whale who set off on an adventure to far away places. It has a wonderful message that I hope to instill in my daughter as she grows, that nothing is too big to conquer and that this world is beautiful and has so many special places to see!!
Thank you for offering this giveaway !!
